Description
In order to become data-driven organizations, healthcare providers need to leverage data standards and information technology. In the past, lack of standards across healthcare has been a major roadblock. However, numerous governmental and industry initiatives pursuing the adoption and implementation of supply chain standards across health IT systems are giving providers the opportunity to do just that. Standards lay the foundation for supply chain operations to leverage information technology to help transform healthcare providers into data-driven organizations. However, benefits cannot be realized with just any data; rather, they hinge on clean, standardized data that is sharable, linkable, and searchable. Having quality standardized data in the item master file provides a solid foundation for provider systems that not only reduces costs and waste, but also promotes quality of care, patient safety, and physician and nurse satisfaction. This webinar will focus on an implementation roadmap for hospitals to adopt GS1 data standards. Learning Objectives: - List the details of Regulation Timeline for hospital providers – UDI, DSCSA and Meaningful Use Stage 3 requirements.
- Explain how to use the Unique Device Identifier (UDI): GTINs and encoded production identifiers for inventory management, meaningful use of EHR.
- Use the roadmap for the implementation of Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs), and implementing GTIN in the item master file and in supply chain transactions
Presenter: - Salil Joshi, Senior Director, GS1 US
