Description

Physician Relations Programs in Hospitals 2014: A SHSMD Benchmarking Study is the third edition of SHSMD’s popular survey report. This latest edition is based on a 2014 survey of SHSMD and American Association of Physician Liaison members.

Healthcare organizations continue to leverage their physician relations programs to create and improve relationships with physicians. Improvement starts with baseline information. Physician Relations Programs in Hospitals 2014: A SHSMD Benchmarking Study provides this information and captures trends on how peer programs function.  Here are some highlights from the report:

  • On average, annual program budgets have inched up slightly over the past couple of years; however, 25 percent reported budget reductions.
  • Staffing levels have remained relatively constant with most programs employing one to three FTEs, although larger organizations are more likely to employ additional staff.
  • The current survey suggests sales staff are scheduling fewer office visits in advance and relying more on cold calls, drop-ins, etc.
  • Respondents continue to identify direct interactions with physicians as the most effective sales activities.
  • Volume and/or revenue metrics remain the most common measures of program outcomes.
The report contains 32 data tables with explanatory text and, where applicable, presents comparison data from 2010 and 2012.

This report is available in PDF format only and will be delivered via e-mail within 24 hours of purchase.
