Health care facilities managers play a vital role in the mission to enable positive outcomes for patients by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and compliant healing environment. To do so, health care facilities managers need to be well versed in a range of skills amid an ever-changing health care landscape. In this workshop you will analyze common pitfalls in project management and risk assessment through a collaborative approach while identifying workable solutions for emerging problems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain how construction, renovation, and repair projects in the health care environment require careful risk assessment to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Discuss the steps involved in the Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) process and how to apply this process to projects in their facilities.
  • Identify the impact of and need for continuous compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Identify critical steps for ensuring emergency preparedness in health care facilities.
  • Articulate the operational budget implications of special projects to leadership.
