With increased focus on the performance of hospital boards of trustees, this timely study examines governance in high performing, not-for-profit hospitals and compares selected attributes with those mid-range performing organizations. The study looks at board structure, roles and practices and the differences between the two groups of hospitals. Results from this study will help CEOs and boards in their ongoing efforts to improve governance practices and to identify specific areas that warrant increased attention.
