Overview:
Evidence based guidelines do exist in spine surgery; however, these guideline are applied inconsistently in a real world setting. This session describes how surgeons, clinicians, and supply chain leaders from seven facilities developed best practice guidelines to limit variation of care, reduce cost and improve patient outcomes.

  • Describe infrastructure of successful physician-led committee.
  • Define essential elements to creating an effective physician-led committee.
  • Demonstrate how the Spine Best Practices Committee has effectively influenced perioperative management of spine surgery patients.
